Laws of Motion

Written and Performed by Casey Caldwell
Original Music by Greg Wadsworth
Directed by Casey Caldwell and Mary Plant-Thomas

Sponsored by the Westmont College Office of Life Planning

Laws of Motion is a play about the motion of life.

It weaves together the stories of four very different men --
Isaac Newton, a man of certainty; Abraham, a man of faith;
Friedrich Nietzche, a man of freedom; and a little boy who
just wants to know what to be when he grows up, and his
 friend Jerry the termite, who tries to help. Through their
stories the play explores the unpredictable paths our lives
can take, and the different journeys we take to find our own
Laws of Motion.

It’s a play with a broad sweep and simple means, with its own unique sense of humor and insight into the world.

This production of Laws of Motion is currently finished, but stay tuned for more opportunites to see it later this year.

Just in: a heart-warming review of the play from Noozhawk. Find it here.

Justine Sutton calls it "educational and emotionally evocative", like "going to hear a lecture by your favorite professor, the one who is funny, charming and manages to make each class feel like a great session of storytelling."

In development:

Happy Few, an original project combining Shakespeare's Henry V with interviews conducted with Santa Barbarans about their experiences with war, is in development for the Spring of 2013. We will be holding story-circles, workshops, and other development activities through 2012.
